HeatShield was designed to make firewall management for DigitalOcean servers easy and painless. DigitalOcean's simplicity made it possible for many more people to easily deploy and run their own cloud servers. That simplicity also helped DigitalOcean become one of the fastest-growing modern cloud providers.
However, DigitalOcean servers are unmanaged and have no firewall by default. That leaves the job of firewall management up to you. If you're a developer or sysadmin looking to configure a secure and reliable firewall on your DigitalOcean servers, HeatShield is your solution.
DigitalOcean calls their servers "droplets." Connecting DigitalOcean droplets to HeatShield takes less than a minute. Our instructions for installing HeatShield will show you the steps.
Once you've installed HeatShield, your server will have a fully configured network firewall blocking unwanted traffic. For servers on HeatShield's free plan, your firewall will be configured to block all traffic other than SSH, HTTP, and HTTPS. For servers with more advanced needs, such as restricting SSH access or only allowing HTTP/HTTPS from CloudFlare, you can switch your server to HeatShield's paid plan.
